Database Administrator
Houston, TX – Full Time Position
This KRG SYSTEMS Database Administrator position requires for sharp problem solving skills capable of working out complex, multiple layered challenges. This position would be a great fit for an efficient problem solver with fine-tuned decision-making skills.
Responsibilities
- Creates and maintains complex database structures and methods effectively. Maintains complex high availability environments, involving data replication and SQL AlwaysOn cluster configurations.
- Manage all database instances across development, staging, and production environments, handling installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Installs and maintains database management systems software and related toolsets
- Creates, executes, and maintains a comprehensive data backup and recovery strategy
- Develops and maintains database documentation including data standards, procedures and data dictionary definitions
- Creates and maintains appropriate documentation for the data environment including integration points, operational procedures, performance metrics, and activity information for IT management reporting purposes
- Establishes strong data controls and monitors access permissions and privileges
- Determine the best way to improve performance, whether through hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
- Handles performance tuning requirements at the query and index levels
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer information systems with emphasis in OLTP, OLAP, SQL query construction and acceleration methods, data normalization, data cubing, and current data warehousing and business intelligence principles
- Minimum of 2-4 years working with SQL Server administration
- Working knowledge of storage and server hardware required
- Self-motivation with an understanding of personal and team accountability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
